The International Association Of World Peace Advocates (IAWPA) has announced that it will hold an awareness walk on the streets of Abuja to commemorate this year’s United Nations Day.
The global peace advocacy group with Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council ECOSOC since 2019 made this known in a statement signed by its Director of African Affairs and shared by its International Spokesman Amb Emmanuel Nkweke in Abuja.
The statement said the awareness walk will be used to create awareness on the activities of the United Nations in Nigeria and to also encourage Nigerians to help in achieving the SDG programme of the United Nations.
The group said it is disheartening to note that many Nigerians including your educated ones are unaware of the activities of the global body in promoting sustainable development in Nigeria which has made the country to be among nations of the world that has forwarded it’s SDG Voluntary National Review VNR to the United Nations General Assembly for public view and commendation.
“Our association remains the foremost promoters of the activities of the UN and can unequivocally state that the UN has performed creditably well and we are proud of their multifaceted activities through their various agencies in Nigeria hence the decision of our African Directorate ably led by our Director of African Affairs Amb Johnny Metchie directing all our country chapters to embark on this awareness walk aimed at creating awareness in order to ensure that their contributions to peace and stability within the African continent is appreciated”
The statement directed all members of the association and peace loving and patriotic Nigerians to join in the walk which will commenced on 24th Oct. 2023.
