The Director of African Affairs of the International Association Of World Peace Advocates IAWPA Amb. Dr. John Metchie has commended the outgoing Liberian President Amb George Weah for conceding defeat to his opponent Joseph Boakai in a keenly contested elections in the West African continent. In a statement made available to newsmen in Abuja, Amb. Metchie said the Liberian President has shown himself to be a true Eminent Peace Ambassador whose conduct in conceding defeat must be emulated by other African leaders. The statement said the whole committee of Eminent Peace Ambassadors spreaded over the world especially in the African continent are very proud of the peaceful conduct of the election and the acceptance of defeat by the incumbent President..

“In a continent where coups have taken place in some countries due to factors which includes sit tight syndrome, it is pertinent that the decision of George Weah in conceding defeat must be appreciated. This is why IAWPA will be leading a delegation to visit him to commend his peace efforts as well as make adequate plans to be involved on the inauguration ceremony of Joseph Boakai the incoming President” the statement added. This does not include our members in Liberia who will also join the delegation. Plans will be made to ensure successful arrangements are made for all those to accompany Amb.
